Sue Heinzman received her Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Indiana University and Master’s Degree from Purdue University Calumet.  She is employed by the Community Health Network as a Board Certified Clinical Nurse Specialist, leading many network and facility specific teams including the Network Nursing Research Council.  Recognized as a generalist with specialized knowledge of cardiac and renal, Sue has over 25 years of nursing experience.  Sue has presented and written on many evidence based topics of interest in patient safety, heart failure, patient and nursing education, tele-monitoring, clinical innovation and unlicensed personnel caring for patients in an acute care setting.

Sue has received numerous awards including the prestigious Evidence-Based Clinical Innovation Award from the American Association of Heart Failure Nurses and was inducted into the  Northwest Indiana Society of Innovators for her team’s work on a Color-Coded Wristband Safety Initiative Tool Kit currently utilized by the Indiana Hospital Association.  Sue is president of her own clinical consulting company and has been clinical adjunct faculty for Ivy Tech Community College, the University of Saint Francis, Purdue University and was a nurse fellow at Valparaiso University.  Sue is a member of several professional organizations including Sigma Theta Tau International, American Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists and the National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists.

Widely respected for her clinical expertise, Sue earns particular praise for clinical research reviews, education for licensed healthcare professionals, and intra-professional healthcare team collaborations, while being a relentless nurse and patient advocate.
